Emmanuel Iduma è uno scrittore, fotografo, critico d'arte e docente nigeriano nato a Lagos nel 1989. Annoverato tra le più interessanti voci emergenti della letteratura africana contemporanea, si è laureato in legge all'Obafemi Awolowo University e ha conseguito un Master in critica d'arte e scrittura presso la School of Visual Arts di New York. Risiede a Lagos (Nigeria) e a Nordwich (Regno Unito) assieme alla moglie, la scrittrice Ayòbámi Adébáyò. Il suo debutto letterario risale al romanzo Farad, pubblicato nel 2012, una narrazione che esplora la vita quotidiana e le dinamiche sociali della Nigeria urbana attraverso una serie di storie interconnesse, anche se è con A Stranger's Pose (Lo sguardo di uno sconosciuto) che a partire dal 2018 ha guadagnato un vasto seguito internazionale. L'opera è un affascinante mix di memorie di viaggio, reportage e riflessioni filosofiche corredata da fotografie che documentano gli spostamenti di Iduma attraverso diverse città africane. Nel 2023 ha firmato I am Still With You, un libro di memorie sulle conseguenze della guerra civile nigeriana annoverato nei best of da testate quali il New Yorker, TIME, Boston Globe, Vulture e The Republic. Per Wetlands ha pubblicato nel 2024 La forma della luce, una narrazione fotografica tra Lagos e Venezia che rievoca un mondo di ricordi e relazioni lungo il filo (e la storia) di due città.
