Information
Gabriela Manuli is Director of Special Projects at the International Press Institute. In this role, Manuli leads on developing key initiatives to strengthen IPI’s global network. This will include IPI’s upcoming 75th anniversary campaign as a key moment to celebrate press freedom and collectively strategize to safeguard its future.
Prior to joining IPI, Manuli was the deputy director of the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), an association of 251 nonprofit organizations in 95 countries dedicated to investigative reporting. In 2019 she co-founded the GIJN Women Group, a network created to discuss issues related to women and non-binary investigative journalists.
Originally from Argentina and currently based in Budapest, Hungary, Manuli has been a journalist for more than 20 years (working for radio, TV, magazines, and newspapers) and has extensive professional international experience in Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Over the years she’s been a speaker at different international journalism conferences and sits on several international journalism juries.
Manuli earned an MA in public policy with distinctions (media, information, and communications policy specialization) at the Central European University in Budapest, and graduated with first-class honors in Social Communication Science at the University of Buenos Aires. She also audited courses and seminars at Harvard and MIT. In 2008 she was a World Press Institute Fellow in the United States.
