Andrea Hernández is a distinguished Honduran journalist with over nine years of experience in both audiovisual media and written press. She is highly regarded for her investigative reporting, focusing on government and private sector corruption, judicial matters, migration, poverty, and violence in Honduras. Recognized for her courageous and in-depth approach, Hernández is one of the few women in the country who produces, directs, and conducts high-profile interview forums with politicians and government officials, while also facilitating dialogues with prominent international figures.



Throughout her career, Hernández has participated in several prestigious programs aimed at enhancing her expertise in media and human rights. She is a fellow of the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF), having participated in initiatives such as ¡Exprésate! LGBTQI+ and Women’s Rights Reporting, and the HEFAT Hostile Environment and First Aid Training in Mexico. Additionally, she has received training in data journalism for Citizen Security from The University of Texas at Austin, supported by USAID, PNUD, and Infosegura. Hernández has also completed advanced economic and financial reporting training in Santiago, Chile, through the International Monetary Fund (IMF).



A passionate human rights advocate with a background in international law, Hernández has been a trailblazer in reporting on high-profile cases, including the extradition of former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who is currently serving a sentence in the United States for his role in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy and related firearm offenses. Committed to explanatory journalism, Hernández strives to engage and inform her audience on complex issues that deeply impact society. Her work, often undertaken under challenging conditions, continues to shape public understanding of critical socio-political matters in Honduras.
