Vita cinica. Una introduzione al pensiero di Diogene di Sinope
Andare contro corrente, per Diogene, significava insistere su un modo differente di immaginare il ruolo e il compito del filosofo, rispetto a quanto la recente tradizione aveva stabilito come consuetudine. Egli non fondò una scuola, non scese a compromessi con il potere, non immaginò mai un’alleanza fra filosofia e classe dominante, reagì sempre con fastidio al perbenismo. Ciò detto, Diogene non fu mai un irrazionalista, né assunse posizioni liquidatorie rispetto al rigore dell’esercizio filosofico: essere anti-accademico significò, per lui, combattere in nome di un’idea diversa di filosofia, più aderente al bisogno di sensatezza espresso dai suoi contemporanei.
