Un secolo dopo la pubblicazione di Orlando: una biografia, della scrittrice britannica Virginia Woolf, Paul B. Preciado, filosofo contemporaneo e attivista trans, le indirizza una lettera per dirle che il suo personaggio si è avverato: il mondo sta diventando “Orlandesco”. In un film-documentario che disegna il ritratto di un mondo che cambia, Preciado decide di raccontare, in un film elegante ed estroso, la rivoluzione di genere e non binaria in corso. Riunisce un cast di 25 persone diverse – tutte trans e non binarie, dagli 8 ai 70 anni – attorno a questa domanda: “Chi sono gli Orlando contemporanei?” Una moltitudine di Orlando sfilano uno dopo l’altro davanti alla telecamera, pronti a rimettere in scena, a partire dalla propria vita, una biografia scritta tanto tempo fa e che non smette di accadere nel nostro presente.
